For the past three years visitors to this site have been able to send in for a free book. The book was Just Looking, a collection of newspaper columns I wrote years ago about TV. Once I started giving the book away it proved very popular, particularly with historians and retired TV stars and people whose newspaper didn't get delivered between 1987 and 1992.

I say 'was' and 'proved' because finally that pile of ancient volumes is no more. They've all been sent off to new homes. I've just been up to the attic and all I could find were empty boxes and a few bewildered dust mites with nothing to read.

I could see the dust mites were wondering why I was so excited. I explained that in the absence of Just Looking I could at last announce a new free book.

'What book?' they asked.

'Go to the Free Book page to find out,' I said.

They did. I hope you will too.
