A big thanks to everyone who's emailed me about Once. Because this book is such a special one for me, and was such a tricky one to write, I've been even more nervous than usual about how it'll be received. So the thoughts, feelings, reactions and comments I'm getting are doubly welcome. I've put a selection of them in the Visitor's Book. If you've got anything to add, please, fire away. While I'm handing out thank-yous, I'd like to toss some in the direction of the people who helped make my recent schools tour of the UK so much fun and so stimulating and who helped me avoid getting a single detention. Good on you Jan and Ellie from Speaking Of Books, who organised the whole tour. Ditto to my friends and colleagues at Puffin Books in London, who always keep a caring eye on me when I'm in Britain. And to all the other kind and friendly people I met, such as the teacher at the boarding school in East Sussex who let me have her pizza and chips when I arrived late for dinner, the principal at the primary school in Blackheath who let me slip away at lunchtime to visit my aunt, and the regional school library supervisor in South Wales who drove me to a comprehensive school in her red sports car and thus saved my bacon with the year 8 students who couldn't care less about books but are very interested in red sports cars. Thank you all. I also want to include in this gigabyte of gratitude the wonderful team at Puffin Books in Melbourne who steered my new book, Aristotle's Nostril, to a safe and happy berth at the printers while I was galavanting across Britain. You're all legends, Christine, Deborah and Janet. Aristotle's Nostril is now in the Penguin warehouse, being stacked I like to think in very neat piles (thanks, stackers) and awaiting distribution at the end of November (thanks truck drivers). At which time you'll be able to sample it, in print and audio, right here. (Thanks Bolinda Audio Books, thanks webmaster, thanks ballboys.) Until then, oo-roo and happy reading,
