I'm spending long hours at the desk this month getting started on a new book. It's called Doubting Thomas and it's about a boy who discovers he can always tell if people are lying to him. I'm afraid I can't give you any other story details just yet because I usually change my mind quite a lot at this early stage. If I blab now there could be ugly scenes in October when the book comes out. Irate readers cornering me in the supermarket demanding to know what happened to the best friend who tells really funny lies. (I'm not saying there is a best friend who tells really funny lies. Or that there isn't. Or that there might be. Or that there mightn't be. The best friend who tells really funny lies is just an example. Please, forget the best friend who tells really funny lies.) I'm going to change the subject. I'm off to Britain in February to do some interviews and talks and book signing and stuff. I don't have all the details yet, but there are a couple of events I'd like to mention. On 16 February I'm talking at the South Bank Centre in London (bookings at www.rfh.org.uk) and on the evening of the 28th at Bristol Grammar School. These are both family events. OK, I'm sorry, I know they're really only of interest to people living in London and Bristol and to that class from Queensland who emailed me last year saying they'd travel to the ends of the earth to hear me speak, but I thought I'd get a mention in anyway. To everyone else, whether you're here to find school assignment information, or to listen to the first chapters of some of my books, or to check up on my favourite foods because you're planning to invite me to dinner, or to examine my baby photos for signs of later weird habits, or to look for secret messages from other planets hidden in my book covers, or just for a general sticky-beak, I hope you have a good visit and find what you're looking for. Until next time, oo-roo and happy reading,
