G'day #78    19 July 2006

G'day.

Those of you who've got used to these G'days appearing fairly regularly over the last few years will have noticed this one is a bit late. Sorry about that. I've been locked away writing drafts of a new book, Doubting Thomas. The characters wouldn't let me write anything else, not even to catch up with my devoted web visitors. It was my fault for giving Thomas and his friends Holly and Kevin such huge problems to grapple with. Over the past couple of months they needed every adverb I could muster. It was a pretty desperate time for them, and  I understood how they felt. You don't usually feel like sharing when you're trying to deal with life-threatening secrets, exhausting international travel, plus embarrassment.

So to anyone who's been using these G'days as a reminder to do regular chores, I apologize. If it's any consolation, my shopping list on the fridge is way out of date too. And my friends are all cross with me for not answering their text messages. And my goldfish still hasn't forgiven me for not sending him a birthday card.

Now that Doubting Thomas is having its spelling checked for the last time and the printer is expecting an ink tanker any day, my thoughts have turned to other things. This website in particular. I'm thinking it's nearly time for a new one, with lots of new stuff on it.

In the last G'day I asked for suggestions about how the site could be improved. I'm still keen to hear from you about that. Would you like pod-casting, for example? Or video G'days? Or scratch-and-sniff mobile phone downloads? Email me via the Visitors Page and let me know. Or, if you've still got some paper and a pen at your place, send me your thoughts in a letter. If you enclose a self-addressed envelope (details on the free book page), I'll send you a free book (not Deadly Part Two, a different, complete one) in return for your website-improving suggestions.

Until next time, when Doubting Thomas will be completely finished and I can tell you more about it, oo-roo and happy reading (and website commenting).
